The Government Inspector 2022

A Comedy of Corruption By: Ilan Hatzor Director: Ilan Ronen Inspired by: Gogol's Classic Play "Revizor"

About the show

An updated revival of the successful comedy which, alas, is as relevant today as ever.

In the middle of a promising election campaign, Oscar Peperano, mayor of a godforsaken town in the Negev, receives word from above that he and his fellow officials are being secretly investigated for corruption. The news sends the mayor and his cronies into a frenzy: might a covert government inspector already be in town?

Meanwhile, a petty hustler fleeing for his life hides at a run-down local boarding house. He cannot believe his good luck when the mayor suddenly shows up at his door. Mistaking the hungry and penniless grifter for an undercover inspector, Peperano showers him with flattery and takes him on a no-expense-spared tour of the town.

And so the fun begins...
